The Debrecen-based construction company continues its operations on solid foundations

On 2 July 2026, István Dávid Szabó, the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of HUNÉP Zrt., was introduced to members of the press at a media breakfast held at the Mercure Hotel in Debrecen.

Since May 2026, István Dávid Szabó has been leading HUNÉP Plc., the construction company of the SZINORG Group. The leadership transition aims to ensure that the long-established Debrecen-based contractor continues to build on its strong professional foundations while adapting to changing market conditions and evolving client expectations.

Through its predecessor companies, HUNÉP Plc. has more than seven decades of experience in the construction industry and has operated in the competitive market for 35 years. The company has played a defining role in shaping the built environment of Debrecen and the surrounding region. Its portfolio includes numerous public, healthcare, educational, residential, industrial and other building construction projects that continue to serve as integral parts of the city’s infrastructure and identity.

István Dávid Szabó has more than twenty years of experience in various engineering and management roles within the construction industry. Throughout his career, he has gained experience in both Hungarian-owned SMEs and multinational corporations. During his years at MOL, he acquired extensive expertise in the preparation, execution and management of complex investment projects. As a leader, he believes that predictable corporate performance is built upon well-prepared decision-making, disciplined project management, responsible financial management and a collaborative organisational culture.
