CONSTRUCTION COMPANIES UNITE FOR CHILDREN’S RECOVERY AT THE 5TH HUNÉP CHARITY FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT

Thrilling penalty shootouts in both the bronze and gold medal matches, fast-paced table football games, and delicious aromas and flavors from the cooking competition filled the day with excitement.

More than 150 participants representing 15 companies attended the 5th HUNÉP Charity Construction Industry Football Tournament, once again held on the artificial turf football pitch at the Oláh Gábor Street Sports Center in Debrecen.

Spectacular Matches on the Pitch, Friendly Conversations on the Sidelines

Smiling faces, cheerful spirits, and pleasant music created a joyful atmosphere throughout the event, while the tempting aromas of soups simmering in cauldrons further enhanced the friendly mood.

“Let’s Build Together! Let’s Play Together! Let’s Cheer Together!”

In his opening speech, Dávid Szabó, CEO of HUNÉP Plc., emphasized:

“The event’s well-known motto is: Let’s Build Together! This message takes on a new meaning on the sports field as well. Many people think of the construction industry as noisy and dusty, yet this profession is truly about creation. Thanks to our work, we can admire the buildings we create and enjoy their functions—whether they are residential buildings, schools, swimming complexes, or sports facilities.”

Construction Companies United as One Team for a Noble Cause

Tamás Hegymegi, Business and Technical Director of HUNÉP Plc., highlighted that all proceeds from the tournament would be donated to the Pediatric Rehabilitation Department of the University of Debrecen.

The donation, amounting to exactly HUF 1 million, will be used to purchase a modern and much-needed Game Ready rehabilitation system, which will make a tangible contribution to faster and more effective recovery for young patients.

Exciting Battles on the Pitch and at the Foosball Tables

The action never slowed down on the green field. A total of 10 teams competed in the football tournament across Groups A and B. During the 27 matches played, including penalties, enthusiastic spectators witnessed approximately 64 goals.

For the first time in the tournament’s history, both the bronze medal match and the final ended in draws during regular time, meaning that the final standings were decided through dramatic penalty shootouts in both encounters.

At the end of the competition, the Rácz Tüzép (FocistasRÁCZok) team claimed first place and the gold medals in the small-sided football tournament, successfully defending the title they had won in 2025. 

The Leadec Ltd. team secured second place and the silver medals, while Topsteel took home the bronze medals.

Alongside the team achievements, outstanding individual performances were also recognized with enthusiastic applause:

• Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament: Gábor Papp (FocistasRÁCZok), whose spectacular saves played a key role in his team’s championship victory.
• Best Outfield Player of the Tournament: Péter Szűcs (Leadec Ltd.), who impressed everyone with his exceptional technical skills.
• Top Scorer of the Tournament: Péter Lakatos (Eger Kas FC), who earned the title with an outstanding six goals.

The competitive spirit remained strong at the foosball tables as well, where nine teams tested their reflexes in two groups. As in previous years, dozens of supporters gathered around the final match. In this category, the Bajcsy Team duo emerged victorious, finishing ahead of the runners-up CsocsósRáczok and the third-place Hunép-Panel team.

The cooking competition also delivered plenty of excitement, giving teams the opportunity to showcase their culinary talents. Based on the jury’s decision, Leadec Ltd. won the gastronomic contest with its excellently prepared Palóc soup. Second place went to the Bajcsy Team for its delicious turkey ragout soup with tarragon, while Eger Kas claimed third place with a traditional bean goulash.

A Family-Friendly Atmosphere and Shared Value Creation

Today, the HUNÉP Charity Football Cup is far more than a traditional corporate sports day. It has evolved into a true family-friendly celebration, where numerous family members and children once again came together to cheer, relax, and enjoy the event. The day once again demonstrated that beyond their everyday business activities, companies in the construction industry are capable of exemplary cooperation in social responsibility initiatives and in creating shared value for the community.
