The Sas street underground garage is open

Construction of the Sas Street underground garage began in the spring of 2022.

According to the call for proposals issued by the municipality, the project involved the creation of a four-level underground garage with a useful floor area of 6971 square meters on a 2127 square meter site, accommodating 207 parking spaces.

Special attention had to be paid to the preservation of the neighboring Old Town Hall building throughout the entire construction process, as the Sas Street wing of the building is a protected monument.

The most exciting challenge of the project was in the initial phase, where we carried out diaphragm walling using a special trench cutter, allowing us to dig 11 meters deep into the ground.

In this phase of construction, observant passers-by could get a glimpse of the work site thanks to the transparent fence on the Kossuth Street side.

Despite the large volume of concrete involved in the construction of the underground garage, the project is entirely green. We installed 10 double chargers, allowing up to 20 electric cars to be charged simultaneously. However, this capacity will expand in the future, as the system is designed to accommodate 21 double chargers. Special safety requirements had to be met due to the charging of electric vehicles. Additionally, the project is green not only because of e-mobility but also due to the establishment of a beautiful new park in downtown Debrecen, created next to the underground garage and named St. Stephen’s Park.

The Sas Street underground garage was built to meet the most modern technological requirements. An elevator was installed at the entrance on Kossuth Street, and full WIFI coverage was provided, allowing easy payment of parking and charging fees through the SimplePay app.
