A clear testament to our commitment to sustainability is that Mercure Debrecen became the first hotel outside the capital in Hungary to achieve the internationally recognized BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method)<\/strong> certification at the Excellent<\/strong> level. This certification confirms the building\u2019s environmentally conscious and energy-efficient design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n BREEAM is a sustainability assessment method developed in the United Kingdom. Its aim is to monitor and mitigate the environmental impact of buildings throughout their life cycle, provide credible environmental labels, promote the recognition of environmental benefits in buildings, and stimulate demand for sustainable buildings, construction products, and supply chains\u2014ultimately creating long-term value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The certification is based on assessments across 9+1 categories, each addressing key impact areas such as low-carbon design, durability and resilience, climate change adaptation, and the protection of ecological value and biodiversity. This certification is recognized both internationally and within Hungary, making it one of the most popular rating systems today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n At HUN\u00c9P, we are committed to actively working toward a more livable future. In every project, we pay special attention to protecting natural resources: we preserve arable land, safeguard soil and surface waters, and avoid technologies that cause significant air pollution.
