The Phoenix Hall has undergone extensive renovations and will continue its legacy with a new identity and logo as the Phoenix Arena, announced Mayor L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Papp at the opening ceremony.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The iconic building, which opened in 2002, has undergone significant renovations, making it safer, more energy-efficient, and more modern. HUN\u00c9P Zrt. took over the construction on February 1, and now the country’s second-largest hall is ready for upcoming sports events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the official opening ceremony, Mayor L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Papp<\/strong> said the facility has been completely revitalized: it has received a new look, technical upgrades, and “a whole new world has been created” in what is now the Phoenix Arena.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-“Previously known as the Phoenix Hall, this fantastic sports facility now continues as the Phoenix Arena with a new look and logo. I am confident that the renovation will meet the needs of both athletes and fans in every respect. We eagerly await its opening to the public, as it will soon host an international ice event, allowing sports enthusiasts in Debrecen and across the country to enjoy the renewed Phoenix Arena,” –<\/em> emphasized the mayor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that the audiovisual elements, dressing rooms, service areas, and corridors have all been renovated, with the entire interior of the building receiving an upgrade.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Lajos K\u00f3sa<\/strong>, Member of Parliament and President of the Hungarian National Skating Association, spoke at the event about the numerous notable events associated with the Phoenix name. He mentioned that Szilveszter Csoll\u00e1ny became a world champion here, the Hungarian women’s junior handball team won their first world championship here, and Iron Maiden and Bryan Adams have also performed here. Additionally, Tankcsapda holds their New Year’s Eve concert here every year. He highlighted that the renewed Phoenix Arena will be the third stop of the short track speed skating World Cup, where athletes will compete for Winter Olympic quotas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-We are preparing to witness a fantastic European Cup. From November 18 to 22, the men’s and women’s short track World Cup will be held here, with the entire Hungarian team – he added<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Government Commissioner G\u00e1bor Bard\u00f3czy<\/strong> said that the Phoenix Arena is the first step in a four-phase project that will eventually put Hungarian sports facilities on the map as venues capable of hosting world events. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

-The developments aimed to ensure that both visiting guests and the people of Debrecen feel comfortable and that the facility can serve them well,- he emphasized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
